NEW WINDSOR, NY — New York State Assemblyman and candidate for New York’s 18th Congressional District, Colin Schmitt (R-New Windsor), today, released the following statement after Real Clear Politics, a renowned political news and polling data aggregator moved NY-18 to a Lean Republican district in the battlegrounds for the 2022 election. Over the last few weeks the district has shifted from Lean D to toss up and now Lean R.
Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt stated, “Hudson Valley residents want to restore checks and balances in Washington, DC, and they know our campaign is the best way to do that. Due to continued grassroots support across Orange, Dutchess, and Ulster Counties, our district has once again shifted in our favor to a Lean Republican (Lean R) race. I am ready to bring my track record of delivering real results fighting for our Hudson Valley values to Washington.”
The new NY-18 congressional district encompasses all of Orange County, and parts of Dutchess and Ulster counties.
Colin Schmitt is committed to public service. Colin is a Sergeant in the Army National Guard and Assemblyman for the 99th NYS Assembly District which includes parts of Orange and Rockland counties. Colin and his wife, Nikki, live in the Town of New Windsor with their rescue dog Quincy. On April 6, 2021, Colin announced his campaign for New York’s 18th Congressional District.
